#3 in my alphabetical list of records that were inspiring in 1998 (my college days).

I’ve realized that I would be a horrible music critic because all I am capable of saying about a record is, “it rules”, “it’s amazing”, or “it’s totally awesome”. Inarticulate and vague. This is of no help to anyone. Fortunately, I’m not a critic. I’m just sharing some records with you. My description of End Hits will not stray far from my formula because it totally rules.
Fugazi have always been hard to define, but they made it even harder with End Hits. On many days, I would tell you that this is my favorite Fugazi record. The music is far more experimental and they began to utilize the magic of the studio to add texture and mood to their already complex compositions. Plus, they groove hard on this record. Sometimes it rocks, sometimes it’s a slow whisper, but it always grooves. That’s one of the things I love Fugazi for and that’s something Cool Hand Luke always strived for. I think Brandon was a particularly groovy bass player, and I loved playing with him. I get that same feeling listening to Brendan and Joe from Fugazi. Some people call Fugazi post-punk or post-hard core. I think they’re post-funk. I’m sticking to that.
I still can’t get over how good this record is. I would give anything to see what their rehearsals were like. Oh well. I just hope they decide to do something else. Anyway, add this one to the list .1998 was my summer of ’69.
