Cool Hand Luke

Misprint

In 2004, we put out a record called The Fires of Life. The title was based on Isaiah 43:2 which says, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” Brandon did a series of paintings for the record, but unfortunately only a few of them are actually in the layout. We decided to print a shirt just prior to the release that featured one of the alternate paintings.

Before he took the design to the printer, Brandon asked me what the reference for the verse was so he could put it on the back of the shirt under The Fires of Life.  When we got the shirts back I was looking them over and I realized that the scripture reference was Psalm 43:2 instead of Isaiah 43:2. I asked Brandon about it and he thought that was what I had said. I was frustrated about it for a minute, but then we just laughed about it. I said, “Well, it’s still scripture, so I’m sure it will be good.” Then we looked up Psalm 43:2:

You are God my stronghold.
       Why have you rejected me?
Why must I go about mourning,
       oppressed by the enemy?
