Since I consider myself more of a drummer than a piano player and since I’ve played drums on all the Cool Hand Luke records, I’m going to talk about some of the drummers who have inspired me over the years. I’ll break it up into my early days of drumming, the middle ages, and the modern age.
The above picture is not my actual drum kit, but it’s the same kit that I play. It’s a Gretsch Broadkaster. It was my dream kit for a long time. I first got interested in Gretsch drums because I saw Brendan from Fugazi playing Gretsch drums. I used to go in Fork’s Drum Closet in Nashville and drool over this kit for years. I finally got my kit in November of 2001. I wrote most of Wake Up, O Sleeper and everything since with these drums. I don’t know if that interests anyone, but there you go.
