Cool Hand Luke

In the olden days of the original line-up of Cool Hand Luke, we used to make up elaborate lies and tell everyone we talked to on tour. The following are some examples:

1.”Sir Mix-A-Lot did merch for us one summer.” When asked how we knew him, we would say that we opened for him on a tour he did with Tony Toni Tone. For some reason that was always convincing enough. No one ever questioned why we would be on tour opening for Sir Mix-A-Lot

2. “Did you know that if you record any word in the English language and then speed it up, when you slow it down it will be the word baptism?”  I have no idea why I made that up, but I bet at least fifty people believed us when we said that. If they were hesitant to believe it, I would tell them to give me any word. I would then proceed to say that word faster and faster until it was gibberish. Then I would start slowing it down except saying baptism. While doing this, I would act really surprised like I had no control over what I was saying. Every single time people would freak out and say, “That’s so weird! How come more people don’t know about it?”

3. I would take my right hand and make a sweeping motion down the underside of my left forearm and say,  “Hey did you know this is sign language for Billy Graham Crusade?”
“Really?”
“No.”
